Zippers a hand behind you can't reach
The sliders of the main zipper sit under a magnetic flap at the base of the bag. On this model, two more flaps run down the sides, each covering its zipper from end to end. Three closures in all, held shut by magnets, and each one lifts in a single move when you want in. Each side flap also has its own quick-access space for what you reach for most. The bottom flap's magnetic closure is one of the two patents behind the Speed Backpack™ line.
A bag that comes to you
The other patent is in the straps. They run through a pulley, so the load stays balanced across both shoulders as you walk and neither strap hangs longer than the other. Drop one shoulder and the pulley lets the bag swing around to your front while it's still on you. Open it there, take what you need, and shrug it back on.
Two bags in one
Rolled down, it measures 34 × 48 × 16 cm (13.4 × 19 × 6.3 in) and carries 20 liters, enough for a workday with a laptop of up to 17 inches in its padded sleeve. Release the rolltop and it grows to 34 × 65 × 16 cm (13.4 × 26 × 6.3 in). Outside the main space there's room for two pairs of shoes, with ventilation, and a bottom compartment keeps worn clothes apart. Counting all of it, it carries up to 40 liters. In all, more than 25 pockets give cables, documents and toiletries a place of their own, and a removable chest strap steadies the load when it's full.
What it's made of
The body is military-grade ballistic nylon, a dense weave first developed for flak jackets, so airport floors and car trunks barely mark it. The buckles and snaps are metal. It also comes in full-grain Italian leather, and as a Titanium Edition in Italian suede with Swiss-made titanium zippers on the front. Every version is made by hand. It weighs 2 kg (4.4 lb).
