Togo calfskin

Togo is calfskin whose grain is made in the tanning drum. The hides turn while their fibers contract, and the surface gathers into rounded pebbles, with the hide's wrinkles and veins still visible. A hide can lose up to 40% of its size along the way. Embossed leathers copy the look with a heated plate, which stamps the same pattern from edge to edge.

The finish

Full grain, with a light semi-aniline finish that protects the surface and leaves the grain in view.

How it ages

The raised grain shrugs off the small scratches that mark smoother leathers, and it softens with use. A dry, soft cloth is all the care it needs.

Togo, up close

No two alike

Nobody pressed this pattern in. Togo gets its grain on its own while the hide is tanned, so the pebbles change across every inch and no two wallets share them. Look closely and you'll find the wrinkles and veins the hide carried.

One hide, three grades

Most of the hide became Fine Grain, a tight, even pebble: 50 wallets. The few areas with the deepest texture gave 10 Deep Grain, with bigger pebbles and veins you can follow with a fingertip. And one wallet carries the hide's serial number. Counted by the hide, all three are highly collectible.

One per hide, one serial

Every Togo hide has its own serial number, and no other hide shares it, Togo or not. On the Numbered Duo that serial runs across the front, which makes it the only wallet in the world that carries it. The photos show how it looks; yours carries the serial of the hide it was cut from, so its number is different.

Four cards, one pull

Under the Togo, it's the Speed Wallet Duo. Your four most-used cards come up with one pull, and the wallet never leaves the phone. The other two ride inside.

Room for your case

Protective cases raise the Duo's camera housing enough to push a wallet down past the bottom edge of the phone. This one is sized against the thickest case we could find, with its magnets placed to match, so it sits where it should, case or no case.

It holds whatever angle you set. Unfold the Duo on a tray table and the 7.6-inch screen stands on its own, with your hands free. It fits every MagSafe iPhone from the 12 on.

Cut and stitched by hand

Every Togo Duo is cut and stitched by hand from the same hide, one at a time. When a grade is gone, there won't be another from this hide.

All three come from the same hide. Fine Grain is the tight, even pebble that covers most of it. Deep Grain comes from the few areas with the deepest texture, with bigger pebbles and visible veins, which is why the hide gave only ten. Numbered carries the hide's serial number across the front: no other hide shares that number, Togo or not, so there is one per hide.

Because every grade is counted by the hide. A hide gives 50 Fine Grain, 10 Deep Grain and one Numbered, so each Numbered comes from a different hide. When a grade sells out, there are no more from that hide. It's also why they're highly collectible.

The grade will. The exact pattern won't, because the grain forms on its own and no two Fine Grain or Deep Grain wallets are the same. The Numbered in the photos shows how it looks: yours carries the serial of its own hide, so its number is different.
